World Space Week 2010

Just as Banned Book Week ends, another awesome nerd week begins!

World Space Week, October 4-10, is “The Largest Space Event on Earth.” (Download an awesome poster here.)

I am bummed to see none of the astronomical societies in Arizona aren’t on the calendar of events on the site, despite having two fascinating telescopes in the state, a super cool planetarium, an amazing Lunar and Mars exploration school and even a space center!

The World Space Week is an annual international astronomical event organized by the United Nations General Assembly from Oct 4-10. The objective is to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology for the betterment of the human condition.

So, I think I will figure out how to make TANG popsicles, science cookies, and this amazing drink called the Bailey’s Comet!

Bailey’s Comet

1 1/4 oz butterscotch schnapps
1 1/4 oz Bailey’s® Irish cream
1 1/4 oz Goldschlager® cinnamon schnapps
float sambuca
Shake and Strain the Butterscotch, Bailey’s, and Goldschlager into a cocktail glass. Float the Sambuca. Light on fire and sprinkle with cinnamon to see the tail sparkle! (WARNING: Do not put your face or anything flammable near these drinks, since the tail shoots sparks more than a foot into the air.)
