30 Day Film Challenge is a challenge that lasts thirty days. It gives me a chance to wax poetic about my favorite medium, and put up silly pictures/videos.
Day 1 – Your Favorite Film
Day 2 – Your Least Favorite Film
Day 3 (today)- A Film You Watch to Feel Good
Ace Ventura, Pet Detective/When Nature Calls
There is nothing about these movies that don’t make me feel good, except lament at Jim Carrey’s present versus past roles.
I usually watch both the first and second in succession because it’s so hard to stop laughing. I want to keep that high of completely silly giggles. It is so mind-boggling to think that when I got the VHS for my birthday (a gift from one of my new friends in 6th grade), I didn’t get nearly half the jokes that were flying around, but it was still awesome. Kind of how Pixar makes their films for kids, but gain mass appeal for the adult jokes, too. I love wacky Jim Carrey, don’t you? The Mask, Cable Guy, Ace (obviously) I would even go so far to say his role in Series of Unfortunate Events was good. But sorry, The Grinch passes on being a good over-the-top character because it just wasn’t good at all.
The extra of today:
Flash Gordon always makes me think of Tenacious D’s cover
Film on Paper’s blog has a wealth of archived posters that are a blast to pour over. That Warriors one? Yup, already on my wall. I really think the Leon one would like nice in my home as well.
